Why hire a designer?

Whether you are a garden novice or expert, a good designer will help bring your ideas to fruition as well as make recommendations based on professional and academic expertise. Working with you, we balance the practical and the aesthetic to ensure a successful outcome based on your vision.  From a large scale project (a backyard redesign) to a small scale project (bed renovation), even a few hours with our team can assist in providing clarity and educational tools to set the groundwork for a potential project.  Your project may be as simple as screening an area for greater privacy to renovating a pool, Juniper Hill Designs can cover and deliver the entire design spectrum.  Additionally, we can help you conceptualize new ideas, provide extensive resources and advise you on local legal restrictions and ordinances.

What is your budget?

Depending on the size and the complexity of the project, costs will vary.  Before meeting with us, have a budget in mind and a timetable for your project.  A cost assessment will be provided during the initial consultation and we can work with you to determine the best pricing structure.

What can I do before the initial consultation?

Our design team will send you a questionnaire to prepare prior to the consultation. Before the initial visit, be sure to have a vision and visual images of the expected outcome.  Gather any materials you might need such as a survey of your property and inspirational images and styles (for example: pinterest images, magazine photos, color chips, plant types).  Providing these items to our team will quickly help focus the conversation and allow us to understand your style and your goals.  This information will be utilized during the initial consultation and throughout the life cycle of the project.

What should I expect during the consultation?

During the initial visit, our designer will take precise measurements, log photos and potentially sketch out some ideas.  (add more on actionable deliverables here).

What happens after the initial visit?

You will receive an email and/or letter outlining the scope of the project and confirming our understanding of the project.  Included in that email will be a summary of the potential costs of the project,  design ideas on the proposed site/project and guidance on next steps before you commit to hiring us.  If you do not wish to go forward with us, then a consultation fee will be charged.  If you do, the fee will be applied to the overall project costs.
